To compare the working memory of early stages of Parkinson＇s disease ( PD) ，multiple system atrophy ( MSA) and progressive supranuclear palsy-Ｒichardson＇s syndrome ( PSP-ＲS) ． Methods Fifty-five early PD patients，sixteen MSA patients and thirteen PSP-ＲS patients received digit span test ( DST) ，adaptive digit ordering test ( DOT-A) and Montreal cognitive assessment ( MoCA) ． Ｒesults There was significant difference in Hoehn-Yahr ( H-Y) stage between PD group，MSA group and PSP-ＲS group ( F = 15． 356，P = 0. 000) ，and the H-Y stage of PSP-ＲS group was significantly higher than that in PD and MSA groups ( all P ＜ 0. 01) ． There was significant difference in digit forward test score between PD group，MSA group and PSP-ＲS group ( F = 7． 392，P =0. 001) ． The digit forward test scores in PD and MSA groups were significantly higher than that in PSP-ＲS group ( all P ＜ 0. 01) ． There was significant difference in the digit backward test score between PD，MSA and PSP-ＲS groups ( F = 3． 684，P = 0. 030) ． The digit backward test scores in MSA and PSP-ＲS groups were significantly lower than that in PD group ( all P ＜ 0. 05 ) ． There was significant difference in DOT-A test score between PD，MSA and PSP-ＲS groups ( F = 4． 201，P = 0. 019) ． The DOT-A test score in PSP-ＲS group was significantly lower than that in PD group ( P = 0. 009) ． There was significant difference in MoCA score between PD，MSA and PSP-ＲS groups ( F =4. 594，P = 0. 014) ． MoCA score in PSP-ＲS group was significantly lower than that in PD group ( P = 0. 006) ．Conclusions In the early stages of PD，MSA and PSP-ＲS，the working memory and global cognition are the most impaired in PSP-ＲS，and are the least impaired in PD． They are impaired even in the early stage of MSA．
