Previous research have found a delayed phase preference in adolescence, which means that more adolescents are prone to sleep and get up late. At the same time, their sleep duration reduces significantly as age grows, and sleep shortage is not rare. The change of sleep pattern and the increasement of behavior problem occur concurrently, but the relation between them are still not clear. Present study will try to answer two questions: 1) how is the causal relation between adolescent sleep and behavior problem; 2) whether there is common genetic factor underlying them. In the first longitudinal study, we will explore the long-term causal relation between sleep and behavior problem by an one year follow-up twin design. Bivariable ACE model will be used to examine whether there is common genetic factor underlying the two variables. In the second study, we will use actigraph to collect objective sleep data for two weeks. Sleep diary, mood and activity diary, psychological scales will also be used to collect data simultaneously. The data will be analyzed to explore the short-term causal relation between sleep and behavior problem, and to verify the genetic analysis results of the first study.
