Based on the Input-Process-Output (IPO) model of team effectiveness, the current research explored the negative effect of team proactive personality heterogeneity on team performance, especially the mediational role of team psychological safety and the moderational role of leader proactive personality. The results of regression analysis on the data from the members and leaders of 73 teams indicated that the team proactive personality heterogeneity had a negative effect on team performance through team psychological safety; Moreover, team leader proactive personality could weaken such negative effect, i.e. the stronger the leader proactive personality, the weaker the negative effect of proactive personality heterogeneity on team performance through team psychological safety.
