其他摘要 | The hundred schools of thought is regarded as the birthplace of traditional Chinese culture, with Confucianism being the most glamorous. Given that Confucianism is a microcosm of the social structure of the Chinese agricultural civilization, the evolution of Confucianism culture has been essentially synonymous with that of the psychological framework of Chinese traditional culture, in which the evolution of the value structure is subject to the ebbs and flows of political forces, dynastic succession, cultural integration and civilization transformation. In previous studies, qualitative analyses were mostly conducted to probe into the three principal routes of representative figures, core ideas and ethics in the research of the evolution of Confucianism culture. On the contrary, this study performed a quantitative analysis using the CC-LIWC dictionary, a statistical analysis tool, to investigate the characteristics of Confucian linguistic expressions based on Psycholinguistic keywords. The frequency transformation of the relevant keywords was analyzed to depict the trajectory of Confucian culture’s evolution over 2000 odd years, from the Spring and Autumn Period through the Qing Dynasty. In terms of psycholinguistic analysis, the study indicates that traditional Confucianism places more emphasis on human morality, which poses a positive attitude toward life. Among the Confucianism representative figures across the dynasties, Confucius demonstrated the highest level of self-concern(f=0.0275), with Dong Zhongshu trailing at the opposite end(f= 0.0042). Confucius was also the one to display the most significant mood swings, while Dong Zhongshu was the one to reveal the most intense achievement-driven motivation(f=0.036). The cognitive complexity of each representative figure appears to gradually ascend, particularly from Mencius to Zhu Xi. After the period of Confucius and Mencius, consanguinity thoughts have been attached less importance in Confucianism. During the period from the Spring and Autumn to the Qing Dynasty, the frequencies of the characters “Ren” and “Li” had each experienced one peak and one trough, in which the peak of “Ren” was in the Sui and Tang Dynasties(M=0.0038, SD=0.0014), while that of “Li” was in the Wei and Jin Dynasties(M=0.0041, SD=0.0013). The troughs for both appeared to be found during the Yuan dynasty. In some senses, Confucianism emphasizes more on rules and regulations as well as behavioral norms, rather than making moral and ethical enquiries. It is a hierarchical society based on bloodline patriarchy that creates Confucianism's core moral ethics, over the course of which development one period of rise and another for downfall were apparent. Two of the lowest extremes took place in the Liao, Jin and Yuan dynasties(f=0.0031) as well as the Qing dynasty(f=0.0028). Confucianism's core moral ethics is a reflection on the psychological structure of agricultural civilization. With the evolution of industrial and commercial civilization, the compatibility of Confucianism with the social environment has faced many challenges. |
