Based on the report Nutrition and Chronic Diseases in China (2020),released on 23th December, 2020,the general increase in static living time and the imbalance in energy input and output can lead to the occurrence of overweight and obesity in the population, continuously highlighting the importance of solving problem of overweight and obesity in China. Weight loss is a popular topic and commonly has already done or on the way to be done. The new crown epidemic from the end of 2019 to date has led many people, including obese people, to join various online weight loss and fat loss training classes. Currently, psychological researches related to weight loss available in China mostly investigate on self-control and eating behavior. And foreign psychological studies related to weight loss mainly focus on eating behavior, emotional self-efficacy, motivation and, problem-solving therapy, etc. To authors’ knowledge, very few research focuses on social problem solving and weight loss effects.Study 1 collects 152 valid questionnaires by questionnaire method to explore the mechanisms of social problem solving on weight loss effect under the training of healthy diet in fat reduction class as well as the self-control and the mediating effect of dietary self-efficacy after health training. The results find that the healthy diet training in the fat reduction class has a significant effect on dietary self-efficacy, and social problem solving has an effect on weight loss effects through the chain-mediated effects of dietary self-efficacy and self-control after the health training. Study 2 interviews 27 weight loss individuals who had left the fat loss class for more than three months via online video or voice interview to explore their confidence in healthy eating, changes in eating behaviors and strategies to address eating problems. Results reveal that those who had not regained weight are more proactive, planned and organized in addressing their eating problems than those who had regained weight. Study 3 conducts a quantitative analysis based on Study 2, in which 101 valid questionnaires are collected using a questionnaire method to explore the predictive effect of social problem solving on weight change after leaving the fat loss class in the absence of a healthy eating training. The results find that the negative problem propensity factor of social problem solving negatively predicts the effect of weight loss. It is concluded that social problem solving in weight loss individuals affects weight loss outcomes regardless of whether they are in or out of a fat loss class. Improving individuals' problem solving ability to transform from negative and other irrational problem solving process to positive and rational problem solving process, negative emotion to positive emotion, self-control energy and self-efficacy can not only develop healthy eating habits, resist temptation from unhealthy and high-calorie food, effectively control weight and reduce BMI during the weight loss process, but also deal with other problems and difficulties, exhibit remarkable rational decision-making behavior, and ultimately improve the individual's physical and mental health, and gain a sense of well-being and life satisfaction.
